While distance vector protocols tend to be easier to configure overall, link state protocols tend to be more efficient as far as network utilization and convergence times are concerned. For the purpose of the CCNA exam, you will need to be familiar with concepts and the configuration of two distance vector protocols, RIP and IGRP.
